I’m Amalia

Hi,

I’m a Greek-American with family roots in Epirus -

a region of Greece nestled between the Pindus Mountains and the Ionian Sea. I have been drawn to cooking since I was a little girl, always sneaking into the kitchen on Saturday mornings to watch my yiayia bake bread and make her pitas. This loving space provided warmth and comfort. From a very young age, I learned the true meaning of family and tradition.

My Yiayia (Grandma in Greek) stressed the importance of using local and fresh seasonal foods, the finest ingredients, herbs, spices, and olive oil. Each recipe tells a story, and it is my way of keeping my yiayia alive in my kitchen and forever in my heart. I grew up with simple, traditional food rich in fullness and flavor. I am a self-taught cook turned culinary enthusiast, sharing dishes influenced by my yiayia and mother.

I aim to share family recipes from my childhood and my passion for Greek culture, inspiring you to explore and cook authentic Mediterranean dishes. I turned my enthusiasm for cooking and entertaining into a career with the launch of my boutique catering business Amalia Culinary Art.

kali orexi or, as the french say, bon appetit..
